About 1st Calow

Calow is a village 2 miles east of Chesterfield which is a historic market town in Derbyshire, England.

1st Calow Scouts were formed in 1933.

All sections of the group meet at St. Peter’s Church hall, adjacent to the Church itself.  Details on individual sections’ meeting times can be found on their respective page.

The group encourages and nurtures the true values of Scouting, and is active in all aspects of traditional Scouting activities.  Many members join the group as Beavers and remain at Calow until they reach the age at which they can join Explorers.

We are actively involved with the local community through links with the Calow Primary School, St. Peter’s Church and the Community Association, and take part in many community events throughout the year.

The group has international links.  In 2001 and 2006 the Scouts and Explorers from the group visited our friends from the 25th Nepean, in Ontario, Canada.  We have hosted the Canadians on two occassions, 2000 and 2005, when they joined us at ‘Peak’  the five yearly international camp in Chatsworth Park, Derbyshire.
